As long as she can recall, she knew the Lord had chosen her to minister HIS word through songs. At a young age, Barbara remember singing songs that she had not been taught to sing. While singing in the choir at St. John Baptist Church in Marshall, Texas, her talent was nurtured. She began writing songs at approximately age nine. Barbara traveled with various choirs while attending college at Panola Jr. College and The University of Texas in Tyler. In 2001, she released her first CD titled "Guardian Angel." God allowed her to complete four more anointed CD's titled "Jubilations", "I’m Free", "Songs Momma Taught Me" and "Spirit and Truth” (which is a compilation of the four previous CD). She later released three singles: "Worship Within," "Broken,"and“Spiritual Makeover.” Currently, Barbara is working on her new single: “Crazy Praise” to be released in 2019. Barbara was signed on as an artist with Tate Music Group in Mustang, Oklahoma, in 2012. Since her debut, she has experienced the following endeavors: She was blessed to share the stage with Gospel Recording Artists such as Dorothy Norwood and Carolyn Traylor and many, many, more. Barbara received two awards for “Album of the Year” in 2008 and 2009 from “The East Texas Gospel Academy.” She was a candidate for “The Gospel Music Workshop of America”: Talent Search in 2006. She has appeared as special guest on many TV and radio broadcasts. She was also honored by the Mayor Barbara Bass of Tyler, Texas, in 2009 for her outstanding work in the community. She also volunteered to participate in a fundraiser concert for breast cancer patients, “Relay for Life” in 2007 organized by the “American Cancer Society.” Barbara has appeared on the following two gospel stage plays: Deliverance and Broken through Refreshing Ministers in Tyler, Texas. She was a co-host on a television show called "Big Break" and she hosted her very own television show, "True Worship" on Harvestime TV Production Cable channel 18 in Tyler, Texas 2009, -2011. Presently, Barbara hosts an internet radio show, “The Barbara Cox Gospel Hour” on www.kingdom1radio.com which airs every Tuesday at 12:30 and 8:00 p.m. Eastern standard time. She appeared as an artist with “Stardom Productions” in Forest Park, Georgia, in 2011 - 2012. Barbara performed on the “Dr. Bobby Jones Show” in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2013.She was nominated for “CD of the Year” with “The Radio Alliance Award” in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2016. She was nominated for “New Artist of the Year” with”The Prazye Factor People’s Choice Awards” in 2017 located in Lithonia, Georgia. She hosted and performed in the 2018 Praise Fest in Tyler, Texas. Barbara is one of the artists listed on 2018 Rhythm of Gospel Top Tune Compilation CDs with Dr. Mark Rogers; Steppin Out as well as performed in South Carolina. Also, she was honored with two awards for her lifelong commitment in Gospel Music: Minister of MusicAward in Tyler, Texas, and The Extraordinary People Awards in 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia.Currently, she is operating under her own independent label: Cox Productions. Barbara published her first series of inspirational books titled, Sing, Gal, Sing through Tate Publishing Enterprise, Mustang, Oklahoma, in 2015. She published her first children’s book titled: “Hear Me Roar” through Redemption Press, Enumclaw, WA, in 2017. She performed in the Motown Gospel Christmas Groove in Tyler, Texas, at the Tyler Civic.
